Sand lizard at Farnham Heath

From 17th June to 31st October 2024 at the RSPB site.

Sand lizards are rare protected lizards that we do have on the sandy, heathery heath found south of Farnham. They are 15-20cms long and the male has particularly gorgeous green colouration in late spring ( April to June). I wanted to make a big one so that visitors to the heath can look out for the small real ones, basking in the sun.

Below you can see my preliminary watercolour of one of our fine Farnham lizards that Robert my husband took a photo of. You can also see how I sewed it, and then above is the 1.8 metre lizard filled with sand on the heath.
